Building a Game in a Framework I've Never Touched

After 25 years of building software, I know where to look when code breaks. That instinct helps. It also makes it hard to let AI drive, because I keep grabbing the wheel back. On Tuesday I'm giving that instinct nothing to hold onto. Daniel Rangel Tovar and I are building a game live in Flutter. I've never used Flutter. I've also never built this kind of game, so the loop that runs every frame and the math that decides when two objects collide are new to me. AI will write it. We'll steer it and test what it gives us, and when it gets something wrong, you'll watch us work out why. If you're an experienced engineer Unfamiliar territory takes away the option of quietly rewriting everything yourself. You have to read what the AI built, ask better questions, and decide when to trust it. It's the fastest way I know to get comfortable handing AI more of the work. If you're not technical A game is a safe place to find out what AI can really build. No customer data on the line. No payment flow to secure. If the math is off, the worst outcome is a game that plays a little strange. What to expect It's live and unedited, so things will break. Drop questions in the YouTube chat as we go. Suggest something for the game and we may try building it on the spot. Free to attend. Can't make it live? The replay will be on YouTube afterward. Who's building Todd Bashor has spent 25+ years in product at ServiceNow, FICO, and Intuit, and co-founded NewRocket, which was acquired in 2022. He builds Founder Guide (founder-guide.com) to help early-stage founders build the right thing, get people to pay attention and pay for it. Daniel Rangel Tovar is building a multi-platform open-source zero-trust-boundaries containerized portable ephemeral cloud region with a frozen control plane, free to use for anyone with a laptop, an internet connection, and slim-to-none technical capabilities to easily and safely let their agents run wild. What can we say? He was bored.
