How breakout groups work
Groups are set up on the event people registered for. Use either way, or both.

You create the groups
In the Teams manager, add a group for each table or topic and give it a name.

Place people yourself
Put each attendee in a group, or move them between groups. Anyone with a confirmed registration can be placed.

Or let attendees join with a code
Every group has a 6-character code. Share a group’s code, and attendees enter it on the event page to join.

Lock groups when the session starts
One switch stops attendees creating, joining, leaving or renaming groups. You can still move people.

Set the group size
Groups hold 4 people unless you choose 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10. Lowering it never removes anyone.
Rename or remove groups
Rename a group, or delete it. Its members go back to having no group.
Lock groups
Freeze the groups for the session. Attendees see that they are locked.

Each person’s group shows on your guest list, and the CSV export gets a Team column.

Groups sit on an ordinary Eventship event, so registration and the day itself run in the same place.

What Teams costs
$50
per event, one-time
- $50 per event, paid once. There is no subscription.
- Turn it on from Manage event, under Teams, or when you publish a new event. Payment is on the web.
- Once Teams is on, it stays on for that event. The payment is not refunded.
Workshop questions
Is this a separate feature from Teams?
No. Breakout groups are the Teams feature. The product calls each group a team, so that is the word you and your attendees see on screen.
Can Eventship split attendees into groups automatically?
No. You place people yourself, or attendees join a group with its code. There is no random or automatic grouping.
Can attendees create their own groups?
Yes, while groups are open. Any confirmed attendee can start a group and share its code. If you want only the groups you set up, place everyone yourself and then lock groups.
Do attendees need an account?
Only to join a group themselves. They sign in to Eventship and need a confirmed registration for the event. You can place any confirmed attendee in a group without them doing anything.
How big can a breakout group be?
Four people by default. You can choose 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10, and the same size applies to every group on the event.
Can attendees change groups during the session?
Not once you lock groups. Locked groups cannot be joined, left or renamed by attendees. You can still move people.
Does it work for a multi-session training day?
Each person is in one group per event, so one set of groups runs for the whole event. Groups do not change between sessions on their own.
What does it cost?
$50 per event, paid once. Once it is on, it stays on for that event, and the payment is not refunded.
