Common roots. Experiential in nature. In recognition of Design for Everyone as the theme during San Diego Design Week 2026, nature is shared creation for humanity and “roots” of landscape design that cultivates “common” spaces into places of connection and well-being, as well as design experiences within a shared “common roots” geographic community. This family-friendly event acknowledges meaningful landscape design accessible for enjoyment in San Diego County, and is designed to be “[e]xperiential in nature”. According to this purpose, the community is warmly welcome to commence the weekend with a refreshing and reflective walking tour highlighting the Garden of the Sea overlooking Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean, as well as additional hilltop gardens, courtyards, and more at the University of San Diego, with hosted light refreshments to accompany the senses from this immersive and interactive activity. Established in 1949 with a legacy and continued tradition of conscientious exquisite beauty and intricate design for wellness of mind, body, and spirit in an educational environment, the University of San Diego is a private faith-based university known for liberal arts education, as well as multiple specialized professional programs, and has received top-rated recognition as among the most beautiful college campuses in the United States of America.
