Vibe Coding: Design and User Experience

Your app works. But it looks like a developer built it at 2am, which is basically what happened, except the developer was an AI. Functional is not enough if you want people to actually use your product. Design and user experience are what separate "it works" from "people want to use it." This session teaches you how to prompt for clean, professional interfaces without being a designer. You will learn the principles that make layouts feel polished, how to use reference examples to guide the AI, and how to iterate on design without starting over. What You Will Learn • Design principles for non-designers. Spacing, alignment, typography, and color. The small number of rules that make the biggest difference. • Prompting for design. How to describe what you want visually in a way the AI can execute. Reference images, style descriptions, and specific language that gets results. • Responsive layouts. How to make your app look good on both desktop and mobile without building two versions. • Consistent styling. How to keep colors, fonts, and spacing consistent across your entire app instead of having every page look different. • Iterating on design. How to make targeted visual changes without accidentally breaking the layout or functionality. What You Will Walk Away With • A significantly improved version of your project's interface. • A design reference sheet with the principles and prompting patterns you can reuse. • An eye for what makes something look professional vs. rough. Prerequisites This session assumes you have some experience building with AI coding tools. You will get the most out of it if: • You have a working project with a user interface, even a simple one. • You are comfortable making changes to your project through AI prompts. What to Bring • A laptop with a browser (all tools we use are web-based) • A project you are working on or want to start • Your project in its current state • Screenshots of apps or websites whose design style you like (for reference) Part of the From Prototype to Product Series This is Session 1 of 10 in the Vibe Coding: From Prototype to Product workshop series. Each session stands alone, but the full series is designed as a progression from first build to finished product. Full series ticket holders get access to all 10 sessions, weekly lab sessions for live troubleshooting, recordings of every session, and Founder Guide community access. Full series: $480 (10 sessions for the price of 8). Visit the series page for details. Already have a series ticket? Enter your promo code at checkout to register for free.
