Form or join a team
Create a team, join one with a code, or list yourself as looking for a team.
When a host turns on Teams for an event, registered attendees form teams in the Teams section of the event page. You can start a team, join one with a code, or let people know you are looking for one.
Before you start
To create or join a team you need:
- To be signed in to the Eventship account that holds your registration, with any sign-in method on that account (see Sign-in methods)
- A confirmed registration for the event
If you are not registered yet, the Teams section invites you to register first, with See tickets. If you registered but are not signed in, click Sign in next to "Already registered?".
If your registration is waiting for the host's approval, the section says teams open once you are approved. If you are on the waitlist, teams open once you are off it.
Create a team
- In the event's Teams section, click Create a team
- Enter a team name. Names must be unique within the event
- Click Create team
You are now the team's captain, and the team gets a 6-character code. Use Share code to send your teammates the team name, the code and a link to the event page. Anyone on the team can see and share the code.
Join a team with a code
- Get the code from someone on the team
- In the event's Teams section, click Join with a code
- Enter the code and click Find team. Codes are not case-sensitive
- Check the team name and who is on it, then click Join followed by the team's name
There are no invite links. You always join a team with its code.
If it does not work, you may see one of these:
- No team at this event has that code. Check it with your captain. The captain may have replaced the code with a new one
- The team is full. The host sets the team size
- You are on another team. Leave it first to join another team. You can be on one team per event
Looking for a team
If you do not have a team yet, switch on Looking for a team and add an optional note, such as what you do or want to build. Click See who is looking to see everyone else who is looking, and message them to team up.
Joining a team switches this off for you.
Leave a team
Open the Team options menu on your team and choose Leave team. If you were the captain, the member who has been on the team longest becomes captain. If you were the only member, the team is deleted.
Captains
The captain's Team options menu also has Rename team and Get a new code. A new code replaces the old one, which stops working.
When someone joins your team, you get an email.
When teams are locked
The host can lock teams, usually when building starts. While teams are locked, you cannot create, join, leave or rename a team, and the section says so. You can still switch Looking for a team on or off. Ask the organizers if you need to change teams.
Tips
- Your teammates and the event's organizers see your name and profile picture. Other attendees see how many teams have formed. Someone you give your team's code to can see who is on the team before joining
- Teams also work in the Eventship app for iOS and Android
