Assign or transfer a ticket

Name the guests using the tickets you bought, or give up your own place.

There are two ways to get a ticket to someone else, and they answer different questions.

Assign a ticket when you bought several and you are saying who is using each one. You stay the owner. You keep a working ticket for every seat, you keep the receipt, and you can change your mind later.

Transfer a ticket when you cannot go and someone else should have your place. The ticket leaves you for good.

Both are instant, and in both cases the other person does not have to accept anything. The ticket is theirs as soon as you confirm.

Assign a ticket to a guest

You will see the option when you bought more than one ticket to the same event.

  1. Sign in and go to My tickets
  2. Open the ticket and find the seat you want to name
  3. Select Send to guest
  4. Enter their first name, last name, and email address
  5. Select Send tickets

You can name several guests at once and send them together.

Each guest gets an email with a link to their own ticket. Their QR code is on that ticket page, so ask them to open it before they arrive.

After you assign

  • You keep a working QR code for every seat you paid for, so you can still check the whole group in from your phone
  • The guest sees their own ticket, but not what you paid
  • The guest cannot pass the ticket on to anyone else. You are still the owner
  • The ticket still counts toward any limit the host set on tickets per person, because it is still yours

Change your mind

Open the ticket and find the seat. Select Change to name someone else. To keep the seat for yourself, open More ticket options and select Take ticket back. We ask you to confirm first.

Either way, the previous guest's QR code stops working straight away and we email to tell them. That matters: without it they could travel to the event and be turned away at the door. If they saved the ticket to their phone or added it to their wallet, that copy stops working too.

Transfer your ticket

See Transfer a ticket for the full steps. In short: open the ticket, select Transfer, and enter the recipient's email. Transfers cannot be undone, so check the address before you confirm.

When you cannot do either

Neither is available if:

  • The ticket has already been used to check in
  • Your registration is not confirmed yet
  • The event has ended or was cancelled
  • The person is already registered for the same event
  • You are sending it to your own email address
  • You are the host of the event, on your own registration

Events that use an outside ticketing site do not support either action, because the real ticket lives on that site.

Tips

  • Check the email address before you confirm. Both actions are instant
  • Assign early so your guests have time to plan
  • If the host asked registration questions, your answers do not travel with a seat you hand over. The host may follow up with the new guest directly
  • Need your money back instead? Cancel from the event page, not the ticket. Open the event and select Can't go? Cancel registration
