Cancel an event

How to cancel an event and what happens to attendees.

If you need to cancel your event, we'll help you notify attendees and process refunds.

Before you cancel

Think about your options:

  • Need to reschedule? Update the date instead of canceling. Attendees will get notified of the new date.
  • Not enough people registered? You can still keep it or cancel—your call.
  • Really need to cancel? Keep reading.

Cancel your event

  1. Go to your event
  2. Click Event settings or Manage
  3. Find Cancel event (usually near the bottom)
  4. Confirm you want to cancel
  5. Add a cancellation message (optional)

Cancellation is permanent. You can't undo it.

What happens next

Attendees get notified:

  • Everyone registered gets an email saying the event was canceled
  • Your cancellation message (if you added one) is included

Refunds are processed:

  • Attendees with paid tickets are automatically refunded in full
  • Sponsors with confirmed purchases are refunded
  • Add-on purchases are refunded
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method
  • Processing typically takes 3–5 business days

Your event page shows:

  • The event is marked as canceled
  • New people can't register

After cancellation

Your event stays in your dashboard so you can reference it later, but it's no longer live.

Tips

  • Give attendees a heads-up before canceling if possible—maybe via email first
  • In your cancellation message, explain why and offer to reschedule
  • If you want to host a similar event later, you can always create a new one or clone this event with a new date
